Shrike and Swift in 2H 2009?

AMD Taiwan has said that the new APU (Accelerated Processing Unit), something that we still call Fusion, will use existing CPU and GPU technology and integrate it on a single silicon die. We are not sure if Fusion is a Multi-chip module or if it will use AMD’s DCM marchitecture, but we know that the first stock keeping unit is codenamed Swift.

Swift is part of a Shrike platform and Swift promises “richer graphics and a better media experience with improved overall performance and longer battery life.” When they say it, it sounds so easy. The Taiwanese AMD chap has said for the paper than AMD continues to pursue maximum performance per watt as “We want to achieve the highest performance with the lowest power consumption.”

The chap jumped the guns and said that Swift and Shrike should be ready for volume sales in second half of 2009, but from what we know Swift won’t start shipping at least until 2010; and Q2 2010 sounds a bit more reasonable than the promised 2H 2009 timeframe.
