Asus Wireless Duo drive offers brains and good looks

SD card slot on board, IPX4 certification

Asus has introduced a new series of wireless drives with a couple of unique features and they are about to ship in Europe.

The Asus Wireless Duo is available in 500GB and 1TB capacities, with USB 3.0 and 802.11b/g/n wireless. The drive also features a 3030mAh battery capable of running the show for about six hours.

Other features include DLNA server support, an SD card reader (proper SD, not microSD) and IPX4 splash-proof certification. Coupled with one-touch backup, this makes the drive appealing to dSLR fans.

The drive is available in white and black. It measures 140x90x25.5mm and weighs 300g, but bear in mind that it has a battery and wireless inside.

There are a couple of downsides. The Wireless Duo does not come cheap and the 1TB version is priced at €169 in Germany. Also, the integrated battery cannot be used as an emergency power bank for other devices. This feature is commonly found in cheap 2.5-inch wireless products and can be very practical indeed.
