Angry French Apple customer escapes Jail

Smashing but expensive time

The French Apple customer who became an internet sensation with his rather clear view of Apple products has avoided going to jail for smashing the shiny gear with his balls of steel.

The video of the unhappy Apple customer made headlines across the globe when he went on a destructive rampage inside an Apple store in Dijon, France. The customer angrily tore iPhones off of their safety tethers and then smashing them with with a petanque steel ball. We found the video rather relaxing.

According to the French-language site Le Figaro,   the man responsible for the property damage was recently sentenced to a suspended sentence of six months in jail and a two year probation period. He also agreed that he would not revisit the store where the attack took place.

He told the court that he was shocked when the Apple Store failed to reimburse him for a faulty iPhone device. Apparently he didn't realise that there was no such thing as a faulty iPhone and therefore staff did not believe that they were looking at a real one.

The court overseeing the case awarded Apple nearly $20,000 in damages. The figure would have apparently been higher but the court took into consideration the fact that the destroyed devices were demo units that weren’t intended to be sold to the great unwashed.
