And 2.83GHz C2Q Q9550

We are still two days away from AMD's official launch of Phenom II X4 955 and 945 CPUs and today we have a bit more clear picture of which Intel CPUs AMD sees as competition for its 3.2GHz clocked 955.

The key competitors are the slowest Core i7,  the 920 that works at 2.66GHz, and when it comes to Core 2 Quad generation AMD wants to compete against the 2.83GHz clocked Q9550.

Both Intel CPUs are priced around the €250 mark, and this gives us the idea that AMD will price its 3.2GHz part at below €250 and early listings are showing €229.90 price. AMD wants to be cheaper and probably 3GHz clocked Core 2 Quad or Core i7 should end up faster, but pricier.

AMD claims that is should beat both 9550 and Core i7 920 in Photo filtering by three to eight percent, Slide show renderer by up to 15 percent, Gaming by up to 4 to 5 percent while Core i7 wins the rendering test, performed internally by AMD.
