Already in Q3

According to AMD's internal update that they shared with a few special people, Phenom II 955, AMD's first AM3 CPU that will work at 3.2GHz, might get a black edition replacement already in Q3 2009.

The CPU launches on Thursday and it should be the fastest Phenom II Deneb based CPU but in Q3 there is a hint that AMD might be able to push it even higher. Since AMD tends to change its plans quite frequently there is a change that this won't happen in Q3 and that the faster Phenom II quad-core might be delayed to Q4 2009 but AMD probably wants to keep Intel wondering about its next step.

Non-Black Edition parts certainly won’t exceed 3GHz, at least this is what AMD plans, but as we said many times before, AMD tends to update its plans, sometimes radically.
