Energy efficient

AMD
was thinking that it can manage to launch its native-quad core without L3 cache in Q2 but this won’t be the case. AMD believed that it can launch a few energy efficient Propus based CPUs in Q2 but this schedule has again slipped to Q3.

Propus has quad cores, 4x512MB L2 cache and 0MB L3 cache and it is not harvested from Deneb, it is a native L3 cache-less core.

The most interesting thing about this CPU especially in energy efficient market is that it can pull 45W TDP at 2.3GHz, which will definitely be interesting for many customers.

Something might have gone wrong with Propus as we expected to see it in Q1 but now we will have to wait for Q3 before we see it. AMD claims that this is simply a strategic decision.
