Xiaomi 17 series globally launched at MWC 2026

Xiaomi has now officially launched its Xiaomi 17 series globally at the MWC 2026 show in Barcelona. The Xiaomi 17 Ultra and the Xiaomi 17 smartphones were both launched in China earlier last year, and now, these two are coming to the global market with slightly lower battery capacity.

The Xiaomi 17 Ultra is the new flagship with 6.9-inch screen, 200MP main camera, and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5

The Xiaomi 17 Ultra now comes with a larger 6.9-inch screen with a HyperRGB panel, 2,608×1,200 resolution, and Xiaomi Shield Glass 3.0 on top of it, which is said to be 30 percent harder than the previous generation. The phone is also slimmed down to 8.3mm compared to the previous generation, and it comes with some major improvements when it comes to camera hardware.

As earlier, the camera is developed together with Leica, and you get the 200MP 1/1.4″ size sensor behind a 75-100mm telephoto lens with OIS, which offers up ot 17.2x optical-level zoom, a 50MP main 1-inch Light Fusion 1050L sensor behind a 23mm lens with OIS, and another 50MP sensor behind 115-degree 14mm ultra-wide lens with EIS. The front camera is also a 50MP one placed behind an f/2.2, 21mm wide lens.

As expected, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, paired up with 16GB of RAM and 512GB or 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage, and it comes with a slightly lower battery capacity of 6,000mAh, at least compared to the Chinese version. On the other hand, it gets 90W wired, 50W wireless, and 22.5W reverse charging.

Xiaomi was keen to announce two camera grips for the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, the Photography Kit, which is a standard one with a two-stage shutter button and video recording button, and the Photography Kit Ultra, which has a detachable shutter button as well as a 2,000mAh battery.

The Xiaomi 17 gets plenty of Ultra features at a more reasonable price

The Xiaomi 17, which will probably be the bread and butter when it comes to sales, comes with a smaller 6.3-inch CrystalRes OLED display with 2656×1220 resolution and 1-120Hz refresh rate, and a slightly weaker camera setup. You get a 50MP main camera with a 1/1.31″ Light Fusion 950 sensor with a 23mm OIS lens, a 50MP 1/2.75″ sensor behind a 60mm telephoto lens with OIS, and a 50MP OC50M image sensor behind a 102-degree 17mm ultra-wide lens. The front one is a 50MP OV50M sensor camera with a 21mm 90-degree lens.

The Xiaomi 17 gets a 6,330mAh battery with 100W wired and 50W wireless charging, and it also comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform with 12GB of RAM and 256GB or 512GB of UFS 4.1 storage.

While the Xiaomi 17 Ultra and the Xiaomi 17 will both be coming to the rest of the world, the Xiaomi 17 Pro model will still remain available only in China. The Xiaomi 17 Ultra starts at €1,499/£1,299, while the Xiaomi 17 starts at €999/£899.
