Kingston Digital has introduced the next generation of its IronKey Locker+ series, the IronKey Locker+ 50 G2 (LP50 G2), a hardware-encrypted USB flash drive aimed at users who need stronger data protection.
The drive uses XTS-AES 256-bit hardware encryption and is FIPS 197-certified, while additional safeguards include protection against Brute-Force password attacks and BadUSB through digitally signed firmware. The LP50 G2 supports both Admin and User passwords and offers two password modes. Complex mode supports 6–16 character passwords using multiple character sets, while Passphrase mode allows longer phrases between 10 and 64 characters. Kingston has also added several features to improve usability and security. These include an optional password “eye” icon to reveal typed characters, a virtual keyboard designed to help protect against keyloggers, and an anti-fingerprint metal casing.
In terms of specifications, the drive uses a USB Type-A interface with USB 3.2 Gen 1 connectivity and offers speeds of up to 145MB/s read and 115MB/s write. It measures 60.56×18.6×9.6mm and weighs about 23 grams, supports Windows 11 and macOS systems, and is compatible with USB 3.x ports. The IronKey Locker+ 50 G2 is designed to be easy to deploy, with no software installation required.
Kingston will offer the drive in capacities ranging from 32GB to 256GB, and it will ship with a five-year warranty and technical support.
