Intel has finally put its Xeon 600 workstation chips on shelves, not just in slides.
Chipzilla says OEM boxes, retail CPUs and fresh W890 motherboards are now available.
The Xeon 600 stack, previously Granite Rapids-WS, has 11 SKUs, and five get boxed retail treatment. Prices start at $499 and climb to $7,699, assuming your retailer has the exact part you want.
Chipzilla is still flogging its own numbers rather than fresh benchmarks, with claims of up to 61 per cent faster multithreaded performance and up to nine per cent better single-threaded speed versus Sapphire Rapids-WS. The platform pitch is W890, up to 4TB of eight-channel ECC at up to 8000 MT/s and up to 128 PCIe 5.0 lanes.
On silicon, Xeon 600 scales to 86 cores and 172 threads on Redwood Cove P-cores, with Hyper-Threading across the range. The top 698X is rated at 350W and has 336MB of L3 cache, while the cheapest 634 sticks to 12 cores and 24 threads.
Chipzilla has wedged Intel AMX into each core, with FP16 support aimed at AI work, and AVX-512 is still in the spec sheet.
Alongside Xeon 600, Chipzilla has certified Core Ultra Series 3, Panther Lake, for business with vPro. The business list is slimmer than the client lineup, but the core specs are the same, just with vPro bolted on.
The compute tile uses Chipzilla’s 18A node, pairing Cougar Cove P-cores with Darkmont E-cores, plus an NPU 5 and an Xe3 iGPU, for a total of 12 cores. Chipzilla’s internal charts claim Core Ultra X7 358H nicks some productivity wins from AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX PRO 375 and then sprints off in graphics, with a nod to Geekbench AI 1.6.
Chipzilla is calling this an “all-new” vPro platform and has widened the badge to include a vPro Certified Apps and Accessories Program. It says apps are “optimised for battery life and performance,” while accessories are “certified for seamless connectivity.”
Early partner numbers are doing the rounds, with up to a 59 per cent reduction in CPU utilisation in FlexxAgent, a 56 per cent bump in power efficiency in Riverbed Aternity and a 74 per cent reduction in background activity in Absolute Secure Endpoint. Partners named include ESET, Citrix and Crowdstrike, with hardware mates such as the Grey Box Shifter, HP, Jabra, Lenovo and Logitech.
Chipzilla is pushing Intel Device IQ through Lakeside, Riverbed, Control Up and Flexxible software. It says Device IQ “collects PC telemetry, [and] uniquely applies local AI to trigger remediation directly on the device.”
Security gets Total Storage Encryption added to vPro, plus Intel Threat Detection Technology, which it claims can spot malware in real time using AI. On the NPU front, Chipzilla says CrowdStrike Falcon Data Protection can use onboard AI to protect sensitive data in agentic AI workloads, and the servicing window for vPro Panther Lake machines extends to 10 years.
Chipzilla reckons there are more than 125 vPro Panther Lake designs coming from Acer, Asus, Dell, and HP, with rollouts starting 31 March.
