IDF 2007: Low K is cooler and lowers the clocks
AMD is Low K wile Intel said that its
Hafnium transistors will be high K. Intel knows that AMD's approach
with Low K actually means that the chip can be up to 30 percent
cooler but at the same time it brings the other problems where you
get limited with the clock speeds.
This is what happened to early Barcelona
samples, but it looks like AMD overcame the problem with the recent
Revision 2 of the core and the Rev 2F the production one but it still
has to settle to much lower clocks with its 65 nanometre part.
Well AMD chose what it believes was
the right thing and got very delayed at the end.
