Planned SKU clocked at 1.50GHz
We have received
word that dual-core Atom processors for netbook systems are currently on Intel's plan table and that we may see a launch later this year.
This well
kept-secret was expected to surprise us sometime at a later date this year, but DDR3
supporting 1.83GHz N475 won't be the last of the Atom processors to launch in 2010.
The planned
dual-core SKU is clocked at 1.50GHz, is developed on the 45nm process and has a TDP of 8.5W
for the CPU and graphics. In comparison, the highest clocked Atom N475 has a 6.5W TDP, equating to a 360MHz
higher clock and one less processing core.
At this
time, we do not have any details about the launch date or when Intel plans to give
a green light for its dual-core Atom series. However, some specs do indicate that netbooks equipped with this dual-core CPU may only have some 20 percent higher TDP than the highest clocked
single-core and this certainly looks promising.
