Six inches is never enough
Acer is planning to introduce more oversized phones. The company announced that it plans to launch more phablets to capitalise on the popularity of such devices in some markets.
Acer launched a 5.7-inch phablet at the same event in Taiwan, but it believes there is a market for even bigger devices. Acer VP Peter Shieh said the company will certainly make phones with larger screens and he all but confirmed a 6-inch device is in the works, reports Focus Taiwan.
The 5.7-inch Liquid S1 is powered by a 1.5GHz quad-core from MediaTek, but it is still unclear what sort of chip will power Acer’s 6-inch behemoth.
Acer hopes to sell 1.5 million to 2 million smartphones this year, up from 500,000 units last year, but it is still a very small player on the smartphone market.
