Apple in hot water with Trump’s FTC

Apple’s Supreme Dalek, Tim Cook, is in trouble with the Trump administration because his Apple News product is not churning out right-wing propaganda like Fox News.

FTC, now headed by Trump-appointee Andrew Ferguson, has issued a stern warning to Apple News regarding the stifling of conservative content. Apparently, the Media Research Centre noted that of 620 top stories on the platform, none came from Breitbart or Fox News.

Ferguson now suggests that Apple’s curation may be “misleading consumers” who may never learn how many wars the President has stopped or how he really won the election.

“These reports raise serious questions about whether Apple News is acting in accordance with its terms of service and its representations to consumers, as well as the reasonable consumer expectations of the tens of millions of Americans who use Apple News,” Ferguson wrote.

He added that “the FTC is not the speech police”, but that free speech protections do not extend to “material misrepresentations made to consumers”.

The irony is that Cook has been trying so hard to be the President’s best buddy that he has started annoying his cult of left-leaning Mac-fanboys. Recently, Cook thought it would be a grand gesture to present Trump with a tacky gold award. One can only assume he chose gold to match the curtains to keep those juicy tariff exemptions flowing for his Chinese-made rectangles.

However, the real PR disaster struck when Cook decided to show up at a White House screening for Melania Trump’s new Amazon Prime documentary. The timing was typically Apple, which is to say it was tone-deaf and expensive. Cook was seen hobnobbing at the screening on the exact same day that ICE agents in Minneapolis decided to pump ten shots into Alex Pretti. Pretti was an ICU nurse who was trying to help a woman off the ground during a protest when federal agents held him down and opened fire.

While the fanboys were reeling from the news of a healthcare worker being ventilated by the state, Cook was saying that he cared about immigration reform during his morning staff meetings. It is a bold strategy to preach corporate social responsibility to your employees while celebrating a film about the immigrant wife of the man overseeing the crackdown.

If that was not enough to make his inclusive branding look like a cheap knock-off, Cook managed to irritate the President by posting a selfie with Bad Bunny. Considering the Super Bowl halftime star has been less than complimentary about the administration’s border tactics, Trump called the performance an affront to the greatness of America.
