If you thought DDR5 was finally calming down, Germany did not get the memo. The latest pricing data shows no meaningful drop over the past weeks and just more wallet grief.
Some regions, including China, reportedly saw a sudden drop in memory prices of nearly 30 per cent. Even major US retailers such as Amazon saw a close to 20 per cent decline in several DDR5 kits.
Not Germany, though. Some reports blamed Google TurboQuant for the volatility, but whatever that was meant to achieve, it did not move German shelf prices.
According to 3D Centre data, there have been no price drops in the last 2.5 weeks. March was the only month to show a noticeable dip before the market uncertainty returned.
Instead of relief, the last 2.5 weeks show overall DDR5 pricing rising by 1.1 per cent. That is not massive, but it is the wrong direction when buyers are already being fleeced.
A 3D Centre table tracking July to April shows chunky increases across the board. The worst-case is a cumulative increase of 367 per cent for a 32GB DDR5-6400 kit in a 1x configuration, with the price index reaching 413 per cent by April.
Some kits nudged up while others dipped slightly, because this market now behaves like a mood swing. The 2x 32 GB DDR5 kits saw a noticeable rise in the last 2.5 weeks.
The 2x 48 GB DDR5-6400 kits are still skewing the averages and making the whole picture look uglier. The dataset covers multiple German retailers and a range of kits, so it is not based on a single dodgy listing.
Overall, DDR5 prices are still 313 per cent higher than in July 2025. That is at least a decent drop compared with January 2026, which tells you how warped the baseline has become.
You might feel bad for the poor Chinese DRAM scalpers who bought up shedloads of memory so that they could flog it for inflated prices. However, Chinese prices have plummeted, leaving them with warehouses of RAM they would have to sell at much lower prices than they paid.
The market remains volatile, and DRAM demand continues to grow. If you are hoping for a nice, steady slide downwards, you might be waiting a while.
