Kioxia announced and showcased its new BG7 series solid state drives (SSDs) at the CES 2026 show in Las Vegas, bringing new PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSDs for PC OEM and client market. Based on the latest BiCS FLASH generation 8 3D flash memory with CMOS directly Bonded to Array (CBA) technology, the new BG7 SSD series will come in various M.2 Type form-factors and capacities of up to 2TB.
As said, the Kioxia BG7 series SSDs are the first client solutions based on Kioxia’s BiCS FLASH generation 8 3D flash memory with CMOS directly Bonded to Array (CBA) technology, bringing sequential and random read and write performance of up to 7,000MB/s and 1,000,000 IOPS. This is a 10 and 16 percent performance improvement compared to the previous Kioxia BG6 series SSDs. In addition to the performance improvements, the new BG7 series also comes with 67 percent better power efficiency thanks to the previously mentioned CBA technology, efficient control circuits, and an optimized SSD controller.
The Kioxia BG7 series is a DRAM-less SSD solution which uses Host Memory Buffer (HBM) technology, and will be available in 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB capacities as well as various M.2 Type form-factors, including 2230, 2280, and 2242.
The Kioxia BG7 Series SSDs have been showcased at the CES 2026 show and are currently sampling to first PC OEM customers.
