Nvidia rolls out DLSS 4.5 with Dynamic MFG and new 6x mode

Nvidia has introduced its Dynamic Multi Frame Generation (MFG) alongside a new 6x mode through the latest NVIDIA app beta update, effectively completing the rollout of its DLSS 4.5 technology update.

As detailed earlier, the latest update allows the GPU to generate up to five additional frames. Under optimal conditions, the 6x mode can deliver up to six times the performance uplift, meaning a 60 FPS title could scale to as much as 360 FPS, at least in theory. In general, and according to Nvidia, you can expect up to 35 percent improvement in 4K performance when switching from 4x to 6x frame generation.

To enable the feature set, you need to turn on the “beta and experimental features” in the NVIDIA App and install Nvidia’s GeForce Game Ready Driver 595.79 WHQL or newer. So far, it is supported in games like ARC Raiders Flashpoint, Marvel Rivals Season 7, 007 First Light, CONTROL Resonant, and Tides of Annihilation, with more expected soon as Nvidia continues working with developers.

Running 6x frame generation has its drawbacks, especially on displays that run fixed 144 Hz or 240 Hz refresh rate, and that is where the Dynamic MFG comes in. It automatically adjusts the frame generation multiplier based on the display’s refresh rate and the input frame rate. Nvidia compares this to an automatic transmission, scaling between 2x and up to 6x depending on workload, increasing output in demanding scenes while reducing overhead in lighter ones such as menus or static content.

Both the Dynamic MFG and the 6x mode are exclusive to GeForce RTX 50 series “Blackwell” GPUs. The earlier released DLSS 4.5 Super Resolution, based on a second-generation transformer model, remains focused on improving image quality and is already available in more than 400 games.
