Samsung and Google unveil fashion-oriented Android XR smart glasses with Gemini AI

Samsung and Google have officially revealed their upcoming AI-powered smart glasses at Google I/O 2026, offering the first real look at the Android XR wearable developed alongside Gentle Monster and Warby Parker.

The new smart glasses are designed as a companion device for smartphones, combining Android XR with Gemini AI for hands-free assistance through voice commands. According to Samsung and Google, users will be able to access turn-by-turn navigation, discover nearby locations, receive personalized recommendations, manage notifications, create calendar events, and interact with Gemini without taking out their phones.

The glasses also support real-time language translation during conversations, while the integrated camera and AI system can translate text and signs directly in the user’s field of view. The camera can additionally be used for capturing photos and videos, further positioning the wearable as an everyday AI assistant.

Samsung and Google are introducing two separate design approaches at launch, with Gentle Monster focusing on a more fashion-oriented approach and Warby Parker offering a cleaner, more classic look. While both Samsung and Google are keeping hardware specifications for a later date, official images show a single-camera setup paired with an LED status indicator.

The companies say the device is intended to expand the Galaxy and Android XR ecosystems into a more natural wearable form factor, combining AI features with lightweight everyday eyewear.

The Android XR smart glasses are scheduled to launch later this fall in select markets, with more details expected in the coming months.
