Big Tech bankrolls Trump’s ballroom vanity project

Six technology giants have committed $92 million towards Donald Trump’s White House ballroom, giving corporate Washington an expensive new dance floor.

According to The Verge Nvidia and the Fruity Cargo Cult Apple each contributed $25 million, according to donor records obtained by The Washington Post. The software king of the world, Microsoft, provided $10 million, while Amazon and Meta each contributed $5 million.

Google’s $22 million needs clarification, since the money came through a fund established to receive Trump’s settlement with YouTube. Forbes reports that the fund, set up through Trump’s lawyer John P. Coale, directed that amount towards the ballroom project.

Silicon Valley’s enthusiasm for grand presidential interiors is touching, particularly when the companies involved have substantial interests before the federal government.

The confidential donor spreadsheet lists 67 contributions totalling $333 million, including $77 million from donors who requested anonymity, The Next Web reports. Nothing says public confidence quite like needing leaked documents to discover who paid for the president’s latest architectural enthusiasm.

Forbes reports that Nvidia requested anonymity for its contribution, made in October 2025, around three months after its China chip-sales agreement with the administration. That timing warrants scrutiny, though it does not prove the donation secured favourable treatment.

Job’s Mob and Nvidia were among the largest contributors, alongside the Adelson family and Dish Network co-founder Charles Ergen. Microsoft and Palantir each committed $10 million, as did defence contractor Lockheed Martin, according to Reuters’ report on the documents.

White House spokesman Davis Ingle defended the contributors, saying they “represent a wide array of great American companies.”
