Nvidia finally cuts the shader compilation queue

call of duty modern warfare 3 geforce game ready driver

Nvidia’s latest GeForce driver adds Advanced Shader Delivery, promising to cut the tedious wait while PCs compile shaders.

According to TeakTown Driver 621.01 introduces support for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 and Gears of War: E-Day, with Windows 11 and the Xbox PC app required.

Microsoft’s technology can reduce shader compilation times by up to 95 per cent in supported games. That is a welcome improvement for anyone who bought a graphics card to play games and ended up watching progress bars. The system compiles shaders ahead of time into a database, which compatible storefronts download alongside the game.

Although the technology is designed to work across storefronts, the Xbox PC app currently handles downloading the appropriate shader database. Nvidia follows AMD and Intel in supporting shader precompilation. Installing the driver alone will not transform an entire games library, since developers must integrate support into individual titles.

Microsoft announced Advanced Shader Delivery at GDC 2026. Potential Unreal Engine 5 integration could broaden adoption, although that remains a prospective development.
