Microsoft is claiming that the uptake of its Vista operating system is
strong.
Chief Executive Steve Ballmer admitted to an industry group in Zurich
that while there had been compatibility issues with Vista.
Most of these were due to inbuilt security features in Vista clashing
with people's applications and this caused more problems than Microsoft
anticipated.
However, businesses are shifting to Vista at around the same pace as was
the case with XP.
On the consumer front, uptake has been "instantaneous," in the sense
that new computers sold today are equipped with Vista as the standard.
