Nvidia has announced a strategic shift that aims to preserve G-Sync as a distinct technology while eliminating the need for costly additional hardware.

In addition to its RTX 40 SUPER series lineup announcement at CES 2024, Nvidia also announced some other updates, including a list of games that will be getting RTX updates, including DLSS and/or ray tracing. Nvidia Geforce is also getting a few updates including G-Sync support, and Nvidia was keen to note that there are 24 new G-SYNC monitors, displays, and TVs coming soon.

The $830 Alienware AW2524H is popular with gamers who have deep pockets and want 500 refreshes per second but now there is the new AW2524HF which does the same thing for $650.

Finally buckles pressure

At its press conference at CES 2019, Nvidia has officially announced support for VESA Adaptive Sync monitors, but at a much tighter control as only a handful of currently available monitors have been given the "G-Sync Compatible" certification.

Fixes windowed G-Sync issues

Nvidia G-Sync users have been plagued by an issue since Windows 10 April 2018 but thankfully, Nvidia has now released a hotfix driver which fixes the so-called "windowed G-Sync" bug, the Geforce 398.86 Hotfix driver.
