US Air Force battles cyber threats

Sets up Air Force Cyber Command


It might sound like something straight out of a video game or a cheap movie, but, faced with a series of new digital threats, the USAF is setting up the Air Force Cyber Command.

"We recognize if we lose cyber, we lose our capability in air and space operations," said General Elder of the US Strategic Command. "Cyber dominance is critical for our Air Force and nation." He added that the Air Force is starting to practice its capabilities and already fighting in cyberspace today.

The main goal of the new command is to ensure lasting US supremacy, not in the air, but on the net. It will also support homeland security, civilian institutions and infrastructure.
