NEC comes up with new MRAM
Compatible with SRAM
NEC has develoepd a new SRAM compatible MRAM which can manage speeds of 250MHz.
MRAM is likely to be the dominant next-generation memory technology thanks to its speed and ability to retain data with the power off. The fact that NEC has gotten MRAM to SRAM speed level means it can be embedded in system LSIs as an SRAM substitute.
According to a company press release, tests carried out using an internal signal-monitoring circuit demonstrated data output times of 3.7 nanoseconds from a 250MHz clock edge.
It is not clear how long it will take to get the memory to market.
