Apple's shareholders are going to have a go at forcing the company to clean up its environmental act.

The company, which has been named an shamed as one of the ungreenest tech companies, has so far resisted any attempts to change its proudcts.
Now according to IDG, shareholders will vote on a resolution at the company's annual meeting May 10 on a proposal to remove certain hazardous chemicals from their products.

Apple's board will oppose the resolution and claims that it already has adequate environmental standards. The resolution was submitted by Trillium Asset Management Corp an investment firm that specializes in making socially responsible investments.

On the list of products which would have to be removed are "persistent and bioaccumulative toxic chemicals, and all types of brominated flame retardants (BFRs) and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) plastics".
