The unit has a detachable face plate, runs on a customized version of Android, and comes preloaded with a selection of applications. Asteroid comes preloaded with a few streaming internet radio applications including Orange Live radio and Deezeer. An application called "Coyote", will warn you about traffic conditions, and speed cameras while "Maps" will give you directions to the places you would like to explore. There is a "Fuel for less" and "Parking dispo" to help find you a good price for fuel and free parking spots.
Asteroid allows users to pull music from multiple devices including iPod/iPhone, USB, SD card, Bluetooth stereo (A2DP), and as well as analog sources. You can also connect a 3G USB dongle for internet access.
Asteroid will begin shipments for consumers somewhere between the first and second quarter this year. Parrot is currently not disclosing pricing on the units.
