Cedar Trail-M Atom N2x00 supports WiDi

by on09 May 2011

Up to 600p
Cedar Trail-M is the name of the mobile platform powered by Cedar View-M CPU and as we said many times before, it is schedule to launch in Q4 2011.

The new feature that Intel plans for netbooks based on this platform is WiDi, a wireless display that will let you connect your netbook via WiFi 802.11n to your HD TV. Supported processors will include Atom N2600 and N2800 and you will be able to get up to 30 FPS with dynamic resolution. Unfortunately the maximum supported resolution is sub-HD, as it stops to 600P.

You will still need NETGEAR PTV1000 Push2TV adapter as your netbook WiFi can only send a signal to this device, which is physically hooked via HDMI to your HDTV set. Currently this baby sells for $79.99 in US and around €50 or more in most European countries.

WiDi won’t stop only at video as it till let you stream your photos and music as well. Wireless Display will certainly make netbooks more attractive and it will breathe some life back into the fledling concept.
