Digitimes reported that although Samsung denied having plans to take over HP’s PC business, it apparently already snatched former HP’s president of PSG marketing Raymond Wah. Furthermore, it is said that Samsung is interested in buying webOS to take on Apple and Google. (Good luck with that. sub.ed.)
We just hope that the great-potential-bad-execution curse of webOS doesn’t catch up once again. On the other hand, Digitimes’ sources claim that Samsung is much more interested in webOS than HP’s PC business, as the latter has low gross margins that may hamper Samsung’s panel and DRAM operations.
Both companies declined to comment on the deal for webOS, so we gues we’ll have to wait and see.
