Kim Dotcom, the man behind MegaUpload, has reminded the world that his new music service, Megabox, will launch as planned, i.e. this year.
His latest tweet says this in no uncertain terms and confirms that tthe MegaUpload ruckus hasn't put him off one bit. The tweet reads:" I know what you are all waiting for. It's coming. This year. Promise. Bigger. Better. Faster. 100% Safe & Unstoppable."
Dotcom had earlier announced the service, claiming it will sell music directly to listeners. At the time, he said that the public can expect several announcements and a few exclusive deals with artists who are basically sick and tired of the old way of doing things in the music industry.
He said that that Megabox will give the Universal Music Group a hard time, especially since will allow artists to keep 90% of their earnings. He said that a solution called Megakey will earn artists cash even from users who download their music for free. Dotcom stressed that the business model was tested on 1+ million users and is known to work.
Well, you’ve got to tip your hat to Dotcom, as some guys never seem to quit. Furthermore, there would be some serious justice in this, especially since the music industry is full of people who haven’t a musical bone in their body, yet they’ve made fortunes off of music. We don’t want to let Joe the Guitarist die in the ditch, do we?
