Nintendo plans new Wii U bundle

by on22 August 2013

32GB Deluxe Wii U & Wind Walker HD

Our independent retailer sources tell us that they are being told to expect a new Wii U bundle. The new bundle will include the 32GB Deluxe version of the Wii U console and a copy of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Walker HD. It will set you back $349 for this new bundle which is no surprise.

A new 3DS XL bundle is coming as well apparently. The new bundle will include a 3DS XL with a copy of Pokemon X and Y. It is expected to cost $199.99 when it arrives on dealer shelves.

Our independent friends are being told to clear space and move out old inventory prior to the arrival of the new bundles. That may be easier said than done, however. The new bundles are expected in time for the holidays, and could start showing up as soon as late October according to our sources.

Nintendo is still expected to not drop the price on the Wii U during this holiday season as our independent retail friends are being told to make sure that they start thinking about how many units they will need for the holiday season. It could be that inventory on both the Wii U and 3DS XL could be a little tighter than one might expect for this holiday season, but we suspect this might be nothing more than an effort to move additional consoles by telling dealers that supply is expected to be tight.
