Samsung will be bringing Heterogeneous Multi-Processing (HMP) to its Exynos 5 Octa big.LITTLE chip in Q4, which will enable it to use all of its cores simultaneously. Samsung has come under a lot fire from other chip makers since its chips can't really be considered as true octa-core SoCs since they can only use four low power cores or four high-performance ones at the same time.

According to Samsung, this will change in Q4 as it plans to introduce Heterogeneous Multi-Processing (HMP) that will allow the Exynos 5 Octa chip to use all of its cores simultaneously. This will also allow the chip to use the offered cores in any possible combination and not just four low-power Cortex A7 or four high-performance Cortex-A15 ones at the same time.

Unfortunately, it is still not clear if existing Exynos 5 Octa chipsets will be able to use HMP or will this be limited to upcoming Exynos 5 designs, but in any case it will finally have a chance to brag about octa-core a bit more.
