Takes a different route

Intel has been trying to push the Mobile on Desktop platform for some time, but it seems like Clevo has decided to go back a couple of years in time when it comes to notebook designs and has done a Desktop on Mobile system.

I might think I'm talking gibberish here, but it's true, the D900C from Clevo features a desktop Core 2 Duo processor and it can even take a Core 2 Extreme X6800. It also uses the P965 desktop chipset and can take two 200-pin SODIMMS for memory expansion up to 4GB.

If this wasn't enough, it can also be fitted with dual GeForce Go 7950GTX graphics cards wtiht 512MB or memory each. Although I would like to know how these babies are meant to work in SLI on an Intel P965 chipset, since as far as anyone knows, there are no SLI compatible drivers for this chipset.

Furthermore, it can house up to three hard drives and it supports an HD-DVD optical drives and can be outfitted with a TV-tuner card.

The 17in display is available in resolutions up to 1,920x1,200 and the notebook also has DVI output for external display usage.

You can find the full specifications of this monster laptop here and expect to pay in the region of €2,200 for a model with a Core 2 Duo E6600, 2GB of RAM, dual 100GB hard drives and two graphics cards, if you're lucky enough to find one on sale outside of Japan.
