Videocardz.com managed to get an updated list of Mantle-supported games which now includes some rather interesting upcoming titles, including the PC version of the Grand Theft Auto V as well as Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare.
AMD is apparently killing with its AMD Mantle API and, while some of those games might not support Mantle API, they will surely be a part of AMD's Gaming Evolved program as all of those developers have signed for private AMD beta program. Currently, the list of titles that are unreleased but confirmed for Mantle API support include Sid Meier’s Civilization: Beyond Earth, Star Citizen, Dragon Age: Inquisition, Battlefield: Hardline, Star Wars: Battle Front and much more while the new list of games can be considered as Mantle support pending.
This new list posted by Videocardz.com is quite interesting as it includes titles like the PC version of the Grand Theft Auto V, Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Crytek's Homefront: The Revolution, Alien: Isolation, Elite: Dangerous, Lichdom: Battlemage, Sleeping Dogs: Triad Wars and Kingdom Come: Deliverance.
While Microsoft's DirectX 12 promises to use a similar low-level approach that will allow developers similar advantages, it is still far away from launch and AMD is getting a good headstart. AMD managed to get some big studios behind the Mantle API, including EA/DICE and Oxide Games, which is definitely a big win.
The new list of games, if they end up with AMD Mantle API support, will certainly give AMD an edge over Nvidia as well, as it will not only give AMD a chance to offer these titles in its quite successful Never Settle bundle program but also allow AMD's GPUs to perform better thanks to Mantle API support.
