PS4 sales marching close to 20 million

Sony has confirmed that it has sold 18.5 million PlayStation 4 consoles worldwide as of January 4th.

Sony was able to move 4.1 million consoles over the holiday. As for PlayStation Plus subscribers, the numbers are not as soon as you might expect with only 10.9 million subscribing to the service.

Microsoft was the clear holiday winner in North America for the first time, as it used a price cut to best Sony this holiday season. The price cut on the Xbox One is only temporary, but it is very possible that Microsoft will make it permanent.

While Sony was the first out of the gate to reveal holiday sales numbers, it seems that it does not want to talk PlayStation Vita numbers which could be an indication that it didn’t fare so well this holiday season. It is expected that Microsoft will be also sharing its sales data in the weeks ahead.
