Wang Xiang, a Senior Vice President at Xiaomi, has officially confirmed the company plans to officially launch in France on 22 May and Italy on 24 May. It is not clear if they will just have an etail service in France and Italy or that involves a retail store too.
If you look at these dates, this matches the possible launch of Mi7 phones that were rumored to launch on May 23rd and it is possible these phones will be available - at least for pre-order - in Austria, France, and Italy at launch.
Separated from Wang's announcement, one of the biggest shopping malls just outside of Vienna, SCS, has also confirmed that the Xiaomi retail store is coming in May. It even has it on its official website.
With Austria, Xiaomi would be officially moving to a German-speaking market - that is usually the way big companies test the market before they go for the 10 times bigger German market.
Europeans from the business side of things do know that DACH is how Germany, Austria, and Switzerland are called and once you enter one of these countries, you can quickly expand to others.
So excited to announce another milestone in our globalization journey: We are officially launching in France on 22 May and Italy on 24 May. Stay tuned! #XiaomiFrance #XiaomiItalia pic.twitter.com/huISUO6iOA
