Blu-Ray loses out

HD DVD video players are outselling rival standard Blu-ray players by a three-to-one margin in Europe.

In a statement issued by the HD-DVD lobby group, the European HD DVD Promotional Group claimed it had 74 percent market share in Britain,
Germany, France, Italy, Spain and Switzerland for stand-alone players.

The HD DVD group includes Toshiba, Microsoft and Warner Bros. (TWX.N: Quote, Profile, Research).

The figures did not include those players that come on Sony's PS3. Toshiba slashed the price of its HD-E1 HD DVD player to 399 euros from
499 euros.
