EA confirms NBA Jam for Wii
Not for other platforms right now
Electronic Arts has now confirmed that they have obtained the rights to bring a new remake of NBA Jam out for the Nintendo Wii. While the company confirmed that the game was in development at the company’s EA Canada studio in Vancouver, little additional specific details were announced.
The hype that we know now is that the game will offer a mix of the classic NBA Jam with new enhanced graphics and game play. The game is likely to offer at least some new game modes and much more playable depth beyond what was offered in the original NBA Jam releases.
According to our sources, while the initial focus will be a version for the Wii platform, the company has not ruled out doing a version for both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, but it is unknown if this will happen, and it could be largely dependent on how well the initial release of the new NBA Jam does on the Wii.
While no official release date was announced, EA said that they did expect that it would be released later this year, while our sources claim that an early fall or holiday release was likely.
