Cebit 08: Passive VGA cooler cooled by a CPU cooler

VNF2000 is a cooler aimed at 8800 series of graphics cards. As you can see from the picture below, it’s mounted on the GPU, whereas the radiator is on the case.

It’s positioned in a way where it will be cooled by a CPU cooler, but since we’re talking about 8800 cards that can sometimes hit some serious temperatures, there will be a silent 120mm fan on the outside of the case. Three heatpipes are connected to the cooler base that leans on the graphics processor. It’s made of copper and it would be a smart thing to check for possible case compatibility issues before you buy it.

The second cooler is multifunctional – small but efficient and quite heavy. It’s called VF2000 and you can use it as a CPU cooler or VGA cooler for your graphics card. It’s completely made of copper and that’s where the weight comes from. Four heatpipes transfer heat to the fins, and you can use FanMate2 tool to manually control your fan RPM. Of course, FanMate2 tool comes with the cooler.

We’ve seen the new CNPS9300AT coolers, and those are the smallest 9000 generation coolers. Their efficiency is often compared with larger models and you can use them on Intel’s Socket 775 or AMD’s AM2, 939, 754 and 940 based processors.
