In Q3 2010, Intel plans to launch its first netbook Dual-core based Atom N550. We wrote about it a few times but to refresh your memory it’s a dual core processor with 1.5GHz frequency and 1MB cache. It stops at 8.5W TDP.

Intel has a plan to release a second netbook platform to sit next to currently well know single cores. Single-core Atom N455 or N475 based netbooks with 512MB to 1GB memory and 16 to 32GB SSD or 160GB to 250GB storage running on Linux or Windows 7 starter in 10.2 inch cost some $249 to $349. This is what Intel suggests its partners as the price range.

Once Intel introduce its N550 dual-core Atom, its recommended system price will increase to $349 - $399 but its recommended configuration includes 1GB DDR3 memory as well as 20GB to 32GB SSD or a 250GB hard drive.

A dual-core netbook is allowed in 7 to 10.2 inches and we would be very surprised to see a bigger one. Dual-core netbooks should be much more responsive and get a better multitasking compared to these small PCs and you’ll be able to experience it in Q3 2010.
