New 7-incher in the works, too

Amazon is reportedly planning to launch two new tablets in the second half of the year.

The outfit apparently dropped plans to introduce an 8.9-inch Kindle and its plans now are to introduce a 10-inch model, along with a revamped 7-incher. According to Digitimes, Quanta and Foxconn have already been tapped for production.

Amazon shipped an estimated 3.98 million Kindle Fires in Q4 2011, seizing a 14 percent share of the tablet market in under a quarter. The strong showing also cannibalized Kindle e-reader sales, so Amazon could choose to focus on tablets from now on.
