Lenovo IdeaTab S2019 goes after mid range market

by on09 April 2012

Quad speakers, 9.7-inch IPS screen

Lenovo has released a video of the IdeaTab S2019, a new mid-range tablet, rocking ICS and a rather interesting IPS display.

The new IdeaTab is supposed to fill the gap between 10-inch IdeaPad and ThinkPad tablets and the dirt cheap 7-inch IdeaPad A1. Unlike all other Lenovo tablets, it features a 4:3 aspect screen, a 9.7-inch affair in 1024x768, basically the same as an iPad.

In a video product tour, Lenovo proudly boasts of an 8.9mm thin, yet sturdy unibody shell in a gunmetal finish, but it is unclear whether it is indeed metal or a slab of plastic with a fancy finish. What sets the new IdeaTab apart from all other tablets is the inclusion of four SRS Trumedia speakers at the back. Of course, they will hardly transform the little IdeaTab into a ghetto blaster, but most tablets ship with pathetic speakers barely adequate for video, so kudos to Lenovo.

The OS of choice is Ice Cream Sandwich, but we don’t have the full spec or price for that matter. Some say it features a 1.5GHz Krait, others believe it’s powered by an OMAP4 chip or Tegra 3, so take your pick. You can check out the video after the break.
