New Asus tablet leaked in benchmark

by on20 August 2013

1600p screen, Tegra 4

Asus is one of the top makers of Android tablets and now it seems it has a new flagship in the works. The leak comes courtesy of GFXBench, which comes as no surprise. HP’s new 8-incher and Amazon’s new Kindle Fire HD were already leaked thanks to the benchmark.

The new Asus Eee Pad sounds like a revamped Transformer series design. It features a 2560x1504 display, i.e. a 2560x1600 display with softkeys. It’s powered by a Tegra 4 processor which comes as no surprise as the Tegra 3 ended up in last year’s Transformers.

There’s no word on the rest of the spec, but the device was running Android 4.2.2 when it was tested. It appears that practically every high-end Android tablet launched this year will feature a 1600p screen, even some mid-range ones. The new Nexus 7 is living proof that 1080p and 1200p will probably be reserved for 7-inchers and mid-range or entry level devices.

Now it’s Apple turn. The new iPad mini will probably be a Retina job, but we’re not sure about the new full size iPad. We might be in for something a bit sharper than 2048x1536.
