Xiaomi started to make its laptops last year and got quite a lot of traction with its thin and light machines powered by Intel processors. Since there is a market and a value proposition with the Snapdragon on Windows 10, Xiaomi started working on its own design.
Qualcomm is betting on great battery life and an "always connected" strategy. Carriers around the world have an interest in connected PCs as data plans got very much more affordable than ever before and data consumption is booming.
Both wireless carriers as well as the standard retail / etail channels can sell always connected PCs with great battery life and no fan noise. Xiaomi has a gigantic retail presence in China and sells even more in etail.
The company just made its baby steps in Europe and it definitely sells its amazing phones at a much cheaper rate than anyone else. Needless to say, Xiaomi Snapdragon on Windows 10 will be more affordable than the Asus, HP, Lenovo and soon to be announced Samsung machines.
