Announced back in January when Intel has officially announced its 8th Generation Core with Radeon RX Vega M Graphics chips and further detailed at the special event in February, the Dell XPS 15 2-in-1 2018 comes with some rather unique features like the completely redesigned cooling solution, special full size and backlit Maglev keyboard, and more.
Currently, Dell offers a total of four different SKUs, starting with the $1,499.99 priced one with 15.6-inch FHD touchscreen, Core i5-8305G CPU, which comes with a slower Radeon RX Vega M GL Graphics, 8GB of DDR4-2400 memory and 256GB M.2 PCIe SSD. The $2,199.99 priced SKU adds 15.6-inch 4K/UHD touchscreen, comes with 16GB of DDR4-2400 memory and uses the Core i7-8705G CPU, which also comes with the Radeon RX Vega M GL graphics with 20 CUs (1280 Stream Processors) but works at higher 3.1GHz base and 4.1GHz Turbo clocks.
Of course, you can always add more storage with up to 1TB PCIe SSD, but that is pretty much all the customization that can be done and also adds US $550 to the price. There is also a choice between Windows 10 Home or Windows 10 Pro, which adds $60 to the price.
All SKUs come with CNC machined aluminum chassis with edge-to-edge Gorilla Glass 4 and steel hinges wrapped in aluminum, aforementioned full size and backlit Maglev keyboard, come with a 6-cell 75WHr battery, Killer 802.11ac WiFi with Bluetooth 4.1, and all the usual connectivity options, including two Thunderbolt 3 ports, two USB 3.1, DisplayPort and more.
According to Dell, these are likely to start shipping in April.
