RS780 will come without graphics memory

At least initially

If you've seen the early performance numbers of the upcoming RS780 IGP from AMD, then you'll know that it will perform a lot faster with the additional 64MB DDR2 memory chip which can be added to the boards; and with it, it looks like it could be the king of the AMD IGP market.

However, it seems that the motherboard manufacturers are being cautious, as at least to start with, as this $2-3 memory chip won't find its way onto the boards. There seem to be three reasons for this.

First of all, it's the additional cost, but considering the performance enhancement you get, we're not sure why this would be a problem. Next is the fact that AMD doesn't offer the best performing CPUs any more, but considering that this is an entry level chipset, this shouldn't be a major concern.

Last, it seems that all the big boys are waiting for each other, as if company x and y doesn't do it, why should we?  Strange mentality, but that is how it goes sometimes. We're sure someone will be first, and we have a feeling that this company will sell more RS780 boards initially, at least until everyone else adds the extra memory.
