MSI has announced few features included in their new DrMOS, that will be introduced on MSI's motheboards based on Intel's P45 chipset. MSI's DrMOS is based on three parts: GreenPower, XpressCool and RapidBoost. You will be able to read more about these as soon as our review of MSI's P45 motherboard is ready.
Today, we have some info on the RapidBoost and its BIOS part which should bring "best performance" to MSI's P45 DrMOS equipped motherboards. These features include Memory-Z, Multi-step OC Booster, Extreme voltages, extended HELP function, ClockGen Tuner and Advanced Memory timings. Every one of these features should make sure that overclocking on MSI's P45 motherboard should be easy as pie.
Memory-Z feature is similar to the CPU-Z, which we all know so well. MSI's Memory-Z will be able to show detailed memory info directly in the BIOS, including all XMP settings. Multi-step OC Booster is a feature where you will be able to choose whether you want to apply the OC during POST or when the system loads the OS. Extreme voltages feature is a part of MSI's 2-phase memory/chipset power design which should allow for high and precise voltage tuning. It offers more than 128 levels of voltage control with increments of 12.5mV for the CPU and 10mV for the memory and the chipset.
Extended Help feature speaks for itself, as this is nothing more than updated help for those that are unfamiliar with advanced BIOS features. ClockGen Tuner feature will bring the possibility of fine tuning the clockgen chip, something that advanced users will surely appreciate. Advanced Memory timings is the feature that will give users a control of all advanced memory timings.
This is only a fraction of MSI's DrMOS, which might end up to be even better than current solutions offered by companies fighting for dominance in this sector. You will be able to check the performance of MSI's DrMOS as soon as our review of MSI's P45 Platinum is done. Until then, you can check out the layout preview here.
