ELSA might be a bit forgotten these days, as the once-strong German brand has lost its former glory and it’s now a brand name used by a Taiwanese manufacturer. Despite this, ELSA seems to be trying to make a comeback and the company was showing a range of motherboards at Computex.
The interesting thing is that the motherboards are made by ECS and it’s not as if ELSA has even tried to hide this fact, as the only difference is the ELSA name on the heatsinks. We’re not sure that this is a good way of adding a new product category, but it’s not the only company doing this.
On an interesting side note, ELSA Japan is a different company from ELSA in the rest of the world and the two companies met at Computex today to discuss a possible fusion of the two, but we weren’t told what the outcome of this meeting was.
Here’s a picture of the ELSA and ECS-branded boards for you to compare; they’re not identical, but near enough.
