NHL 10 to snub PC owners

This time around only 360 & PS3 versions

First it was Madden 10 as we told you about yesterday, and now we can confirm that Electronic Arts has made the decision to drop NHL 10 from release on the PC this time around. Instead, the company will focus on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 releases of the game which are in development by EA Canada.

This time around with NHL 10, the hockey title which was hailed as sports game of the year by most in the media, it will feature a new first-person fighting mode which is said to better replicate the actual feel of fighting in a real hockey game. From what we can tell, the fighting is very amped up and in some ways looks very much like what we have seen in the previews for Fight Night 4.

EA Sports claims that NHL 10 will push the simulation to the next level with additional refinements to deliver the most authentic action ever in a hockey simulation. It will be the closest thing that you can get to the actual game of hockey without lacing up the skates.

The game is on track to be released this autumn for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, but perhaps the fact that one of the longest running sports titles will not be available for the PC this time around might be the bigger story than what NHL 10 will add to the mix when released.
