Spiritual successor to Hydro Thunder moves forward

Hydro Thunder is one of those Midway arcade titles that continue to draw fond memories from gamers. The spiritual successor to Hydro Thunder, which is known as H2Overdrive, continues development with developer Specular Interactive.

The boat racing extravaganza has been described as taking the original Hydro Thunder in a new direction with more speed, bigger jumps, and more challenging races, while at the same time keeping the elements that made Hydro Thunder popular.

The developers have released a new trailer to show off their progress and it offers a glimpse of some of the new stunts that players will be able to do when H2Overdrive is finally released. We don’t know much about the future of the game beyond the fact that the developer did show it off at the ATEI show in London in February with 4 linked prototype units.

So far, we only know for sure that H2Overdrive is destined for an arcade release soon, but we do suspect that it will arrive for next generation consoles if the initial arcade reception is successful. From what we have seen, we have to admit that we expect to be spending more than a few quarters checking this game out; but we have to admit that we can see much success for this title once it hits the console market.
