Two flavors to be popular with the WOW crowd

Not that World of Warcraft needs more tie-in products, but Blizzard as well as PepsiCo bottlers might be the first game soda to have a real hit on its hands with the new Mountain Dew (or Mtn Dew, as it is known in some circles) that will offer two flavors targeted directly at WOW players.

While PepsiCo has dabbled in this before with the Mountain Dew Gamer Fuel and even used some Halo branding, the latest versions that are inspired by WOW will be offered in two varieties. The first is what is being described as a citrus-cherry flavor Mountain Dew Gamer Fuel blend that is being called Horde Red. For those whose allegiance runs toward the Alliance, you will be more attracted to the Alliance Blue, which features a wild fruit-flavored Gamer Fuel Mountain Dew blend.

Players are already forming raiding parties to head to the shelves of local retailers in attempts to acquire the newly released caffeine and sugary concoction in the hopes to improve the overall experience of being wired enough to continue to play WOW for longer periods of time. No word yet from PepsiCo on how much Horde Red or Alliance Blue Gamer Fuel will improve your score, but the possibility seems to exist.

In all seriousness, as part of the launch of the WOW Mtn Dew Gamer Fuel, buyers will have a chance to win a new in-game-pet known as a battle-bot in addition for more than 8,000 other prizes. At least from what we hear, the WOW-themed Gamer Fuel will be available for a limited time, and we expect to see lots of it at Blizcon later this year. No word yet on how long the WOW-themed Gamer Fuel will be available or how much of it you can safely drink per day.
