Will be staying at Activision despite RedOctane end

The RedOctane studio, which recently had its plug pulled by Activision, will continue in a small way with the news that RedOctane founders Kai and Charles Huang are landing on their feet and have decided to stay with Activision in another role. While we do not yet know what this role will be, the decision to retain Kai and Charles Huang is likely a good one for Activision.

When the news that RedOctane was being closed reached us, we were told that Kai and Charles Huang were planning to leave and move on to something new. It now appears that they have both had a change of heart and will remain with the mothership, but the future role for the two is unclear at best right now.

The RedOctane closure, from what we hear, is one of the first in a series of what Activision is suggesting as necessary moves to trim staff and make cuts to remain profitable. Rumors suggest before all of the cutting at Activision is done as many as 300 employees will be kicked to the curb. The RedOctane closure is only the first difficult decision being made by Activision as the company looks at a variety of factors as they decide where to cut.
